Dear SPUSD Parents/Guardians,
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LACDPH) has issued revised orders for Exposure Management protocols in TK-12 schools. These changes go into effect on Wednesday, May 4, 2022. Please see below for details.
New definition of close contacts:
- Persons are considered to have been exposed to a case (close contact) during the infectious period if they shared the same indoor airspace at school with the infected person for 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period.
- In large indoor airspaces (like gymnasiums, multi-purpose rooms, or cafeterias), those considered exposed may be limited to:
- Those in a pre-defined or identifiable group (e.g.teammates, club members, cohorts, etc.), or
- Those within 6 feet of the infected person for 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period.
Close contacts who are not required to quarantine are required to do the following to remain on campus:
- Monitor for symptoms
- Wear a mask indoors while around others except for when eating or drinking, for 10 days after the last date of exposure (this includes staff and students)
- Test within 3-5 days of the last exposure
Overall, cases at SPUSD remain low at this time. We are sensitive to the reality that for some individuals ongoing changes in COVID protocol requirements are challenging.
Regards,
Geoff Yantz, Ed.D.
