Middle School Residency Verification Dates for 2016-2017

Again this year: all residency verification will take place at the District Office Boardroom (1020 El Centro Street, S. Pasadena), and all 5 school sites will be present for the aforementioned times. You will be able to re-verify your residency for each school that a child attends, all in one place.

Monday, August 1, 2016                   8:30-11:30 a.m. and 12:30-3:30 p.m.

Tuesday, August 2, 2016                 11:30 a.m.-7:00 p.m.

Wednesday, August 3, 2016            8:30-11:30 a.m. and 12:30-3:30 p.m.

Dual Residency and Guardianship living situations must be re-verified by the Human Resources office prior to these dates. Please contact them for information and an appointment: 626-441-5810 X1130. 
The first day of school for the 2016-2017 school year is Thursday, August 18, 2016.
Please bring ONE item from each of the following FIVE (5) areas at the time of RESIDENCY VERIFICATION.  All documents must be originals (no photocopies will be accepted), and must include the name of the parent/guardian and the South Pasadena address.


  1. Driver’s License or Legal Photo Identification (I.D.) of Parent/Guardian

** For cases of guardianship, additional information will also be required. **


  1. Data Confirmation Receipt: Email Verification from SPUSDNotice@spusd.net Confirming Completion of Student Data Confirmation (in digital or print form). Log on to your parent portal account at my.spusd.net and follow the directions to complete the Student Data Confirmation process. This must be completed for every child attending SPUSD.  Remember, you can only do the Data Confirmation process on or after JULY 18, 2016.


Three (3) original residency verification documents are required:


  1. CATEGORY A: (Choose one {1} of the documents listed below):

c   Deed of Trust

c   Mortgage Payment Receipt – dated within the past month

c   Rental/Lease Agreement, listing all names of occupants (including children) and the name, address, telephone number and signature of landlord/management company

c   Property Tax Bill – dated within the past year

c   Closing Escrow Papers


  1. CATEGORY B: (Choose one {1} of the documents listed below which must be dated within the past month:

c   Utility Bill (example: Southern California Edison, The Gas Company, Water Bill) **

c   Cable/Internet Provider Bill (example: Time Warner, Direct TV)


  1. CATEGORY C: (Choose one {1} of the documents listed below):

c   An Additional Utility Bill [different than what is provided in CATEGORY B] (example: Southern California Edison, The Gas Company, Water Bill)-- dated within the past month **

c   Current Car Registration – dated within the past year

c   Car Insurance Statement – dated within the past 6 months to 1 year

c   Health Insurance Statement – dated within the past month

c   Bank Statement (or signed letter on bank letterhead with the South Pasadena address) – dated within the past month

c   Current Federal or State Tax Correspondence – dated within the past 6 months


If your family will be out of town during this time, you will need to go to each school during school hours (8 am to 3:30 pm) where a child attends upon your return to provide your current proof of residence as well as your Data Confirmation Receipt. Schools will be open and available beginning Monday, August 8th to accommodate people out of town August 1-3, 2016. Your child will not be assigned a teacher (in K-5) or a class schedule (6-12) if you do not complete this process prior to the start of school. ** For a newly established residence, for verification from Category B and C, a signed, original receipt or statement on letterhead from the utility company will satisfy the requirement, provided the name of the parent/guardian and South Pasadena address where service will be established are both listed.
