At the September 2, 2014 Board of Education meeting, Superintendent Geoff Yantz announced that Dr. Scott Price, Assistant Superintendent of Business Services, had accepted the position of Chief Financial Officer at the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE).  Dr. Yantz noted how Dr. Price has been a valuable asset in guiding the District through challenging financial conditions and overseeing the maintenance and operations of school facilities, and wished him all the best in his new position.

Earlier in the evening, the Board of Education appointed Mr. Dave Lubs to serve as the District’s Assistant Superintendent of Business.  Mr. Lubs comes to SPUSD with experience, knowledge, and a strong work ethic.  He previously served as Assistant Superintendent in the El Segundo Unified School District for the past six years.  His years of service in education also include being a high school history teacher, middle school assistant principal and principal.   Mr. Lubs holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California at San Diego and a Master of Business Administration from UCLA Anderson School of Business.   He lives in El Segundo with his wife and three school-aged children.   He will join the District on September 8.

The Board also appointed Dr. Dennis Lefevre to the newly-created position of Executive Director of Student Support Services.  Dr. Lefevre has extensive experience in the area of special education.  He has served as a classroom teacher, school administrator and most recently served as a school psychologist for SPUSD.  Dr. Lefevre received an Applied Baccalaureate degree in History from University of California at Berkeley, and his Master of Arts and Doctor of Psychology degrees in School Psychology and Educational Psychology, respectively, from the California School of Professional Psychology.
