Community Communication from Supt. Geoff Yantz/September 23, 2014
Posted by: Sylvia Carroll Published: 9/25/14

Dear Parents, Staff, and South Pasadena Community Members:

The District has been informed that the students who were arrested for making threats of violence against South Pasadena High School staff and students were placed under house arrest by the Court.  In addition, steps have been taken to ensure that the students will not return to any District property at this time.  Please keep in mind that this remains a confidential Court matter and, as such, the District must use discretion in divulging details of its pending actions.

The School District continues to work closely with the South Pasadena Police Department. The SPPD will provide additional police officers and patrols to ensure the safety of all members of our school community.  In addition, the District will be placing more supervision at the high school campus.

We realize that the events of late August have left differing degrees of concern among our families.  Please know that the safety and protection of all young people and all employees is paramount to us.  We continue to have counseling available, on call, at each campus.  If you feel that your child is in need of support services, please contact your site principal.

Sincerely,

Dr. Geoff Yantz
Superintendent
