SOUTH PASADENA – With the variety of happenings at Marengo School, Principal Kim Sinclair shared her excitement over the consistent integration of technology in the classroom. To support the district’s goal as well as Marengo’s goal of emphasizing the 21st Century learning outcomes of critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity, with a focus on the Common Core State Standards, in curriculum planning, daily classroom instruction, and assessment of student learning, the school has equipped each of classroom in grades 3 through 5 with enough technology to support a 1:1 implementation of technology. All teachers and students have been trained in Gmail and Google Docs and have begun to implement them in their daily classroom instruction in a variety of ways. Students are using their computers to take assessments, finalize essays, write journal entries, respond to written pieces of work, research information, prepare presentations, and work on projects that support project based learning.
Mrs. Sinclair stated, “It’s amazing to walk into the classroom and see computers being used by students almost as naturally as paper and pencil!”
