SOUTH PASADENA – At the April 21, 2015 Board of Education Meeting, the Governing Board approved a contract for the renovation of the South Pasadena High School pool.  Included in the renovation work is re-plastering, new tile trim and markings, replacement of the concrete pool deck, and a new pool deck drainage system.  During the construction period, additional cosmetic upgrades will be made by the South Pasadena Unified maintenance staff.  The pool is scheduled to be shut down starting May 16, 2015.

Based on a low-bid qualified award, the contractor selected by the South Pasadena Unified School District is Nadar, Inc.  Based in Altadena, Nadar, Inc. has been specializing in construction and renovation of competition aquatics facilities since 1962, and has a sterling reputation for providing high-quality workmanship with industry-leading efficiency on projects throughout the state of California.  In the local area, Nadar is currently building a new swimming pool at Arcadia High School, and in 2006, built the new pool at Pasadena Polytechnic School.  Other notable projects completed by Nadar have been a new 50-meter competition pool at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, a multi-use pool at Cal State Northridge Student Recreation Center, and a multi-pool complex in Castaic for the Los Angeles County Department of Recreation and Parks.

Anticipated completion of the South Pasadena High School swimming pool renovation project is slated for June 26th.  Assuming the construction timeline goes as planned, summer sessions for swim lessons scheduled for July 6 through August 14 will continue as planned.
